MURIC wants police to bring priests’ killers to book

Professor Ishaq Akintola, Director, Muslim Rights  Concern (MURIC), has urged the Inspector General of Police to bring to book, the killers of worshippers at St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Benue State.In a statement in Lagos, Akintola condemned the killing, saying that life remained sacrosanct and should not be toyed with.Gunmen on Tuesday invaded the church located at Ayar-Mbalom in Gwer East Local Government Area of Benue, killing worshippers including two priests, Joseph Gor and Felix Tyolaha.

More than 100 priests and hundreds of Catholic worshippers attended the nine-metre (30-foot) statue’s official unveiling in the village of Abajah in southeastern Nigeria. It was commissioned by Obinna Onuoha, a local businessman who hired a Chinese company to carve it and placed it in the grounds of a 2000-capacity church that he built in 2012.
