Pollution: NIMASA demands IOCs’ annual contingency plans

THERE were indications, yesterday, that the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, NIMASA, would be stepping up its anti-pollution oversight over the nation’s maritime ecosystem. To this end the Agency has requested International Oil Companies, IOCs, to submit their annual contingency plans with a view to ensuring that such plans were devoid of pollution hazards.

Delta communities to drag NAOC to court over pollution

THE people of Tuomo, Bomadi and Ayamasa communities in Delta and Bayelsa states, yesterday, said they had concluded moves to drag Nigeria Agip Oil Company, NAOC, to court over the company’s refusal to take responsibility for the July 11 leak on the Tuomo/Ogbonbiri gas pipeline that allegedly led to an inferno, which damaged farm crops in the affected communities worth millions of Naira.
