“Migration governance in Nigeria has seen continuous improvement since the expansion of NCFRMI mandate to include the coordination of all migration-related matters in Nigeria as well as the resettlement of Internally Displaced Persons in the Nation. This is evidenced by various Government interventions and programs aiming to provide IDPs, Refugees and Migrants with the best tools to become self-reliant”.

President Buhari expresses gratitude to the Government of Switzerland (through Swiss Development Cooperation), European Union Delegation and the International Organization for Migration for their great support and cooperation.

The Edo Government and the European Union have said the development of the Managing Migration through Development Programmes (MMDP) Coordination Matrix, was a way forward in curbing the scourge of illegal migration and human trafficking in Edo and Nigeria in general.

The Edo State Government will host international organisations, Non-Governmental Organisations including Civil Society Organisations and other stakeholders involved in addressing human trafficking and illegal migration to a two-day roundtable to fine-tune strategies to stem the menace.

THE rate at which Nigerians are migrating to other parts of the world has become an issue of great concern, particularly because the consequences of such mass exodus  would have such telling effect on the future of our nation, albeit negatively. But this is not supposed to be so as one cannot divorce development of nations from the great contributions from migrants.
