Ilaje /Ajah clash: Father, son shot dead, women raped

The tranquility hitherto witnessed by residents of Ilaje and Ajah communities in Lagos State, is presently being truncated by the   eruption of crises which have left not less than 10 persons dead, with others injured. Houses, including churches   were burnt and women, both married and singles , allegedly raped by the invaders   who stormed the communities under the cover of the darkness. Some of the residents, especially those living close to the waterside, have fled their homes.

Itsekiri, Ijaw, Ilaje graduates reject contract extension for 151 VTP trainees

Leadership of Itsekiri, Ijaw and Ilaje graduates under the aegis of the 3i Coalition, has rejected the three months contract extension allegedly offered to 151 graduate trainees of VTP 5/OTP 2 and VTP 6 by Chevron Nigeria Limited, CNL, insisting that Chevron “must convert all 151 trainees who have been under slave labour for over three years.”

WRITING on the Ilaje situation in Lagos, Ajose Kudehinbu, former Head of Service of Ondo State and prince of the Ilaje Aheri kingdom who spent his early childhood in Lagos, recalled that one of the several places Ilaje had occupied and which he visited with his father, growing up then, in the city was ‘Agege-Odo’, now Akoka and present site of the University of Lagos from where the original Ilaje occupants were evacuated to establish the University.
