COVID-19 Lockdown: ATCON seeks right of passage for Telecom technical staff

In view of the imminent country lockdown and restriction of movements in an attempt to curb the spread of Coronavirus outbreak in the country, the Association of Telecommunications Companies of Nigeria (ATCON) has requested that the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) initiate the process of National Right of passage for all technical staff of telecommunications companies in the event of foreseeable lockdown by either the Federal or the State Governments.

NCC, ATCON move to improve quality of broadband service

At the Telecom Executives and Regulators Forum, organised by the Association of Telecoms Companies of Nigeria, ATCON, in Lagos, the Nigeria Communications Commission, NCC, disclosed its plan to auction 2.5/2.6 GHz spectrum and 700 MHz for 4G LTE coverage requirements, as well as assign high-capacity 70/80 GHz spectrum bands in its bid to boost operators’ ability to provide broadband services without affecting quality of service.

ATCON, NCC differ on number portability sanctions

At the just concluded second quarter industry forum on Mobile Number Portability, MNP, organized by the ICT Publishers Alliance held in Lagos recently, telcos under the umbrella of the Association of Telecommunications Companies of Nigeria , (ATCON) disagreed with the regulator, NCC, over options of sanctions for errant mobile service providers under the MPN scheme.
