Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has approved the appointment of Prince Abimbola Owoade as the new Alaafin of Oyo following the recommendation of the Oyomesi, the kingmakers of Oyo Kingdom.

Five prominent kingmakers from Oyo have raised serious concerns over Governor Seyi Makinde’s recent initiative to initiate a new selection process regarding the vacant Alaafin stool.

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has assured the indigenes of Oyo Town that he does not have any anointed candidate for the position of Alaafin of Oyo to fill the vacant stool left by the late Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi 111.

Some indigenes of Oyo town trooped out to stage a peaceful protest at the entrance of the Oyo High Court in Awe, over the delay in the selection of new Alaafin.

After the demise of Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III, expectations were high that the succession processes for the next Alaafin of Oyo would be peaceful and expedited without rancour.
