The Arewa Youth Consultative Forum (AYCF) and the Northern Emancipation Network (NEN) have stated that there were plans to cause instability in the North using Zamfara as a launch pad.
The groups called on the Federal Government to deal decisively with every troublemaker and appealed to the Supreme Court justices to meticulously consider the facts before them when delivering their verdict.
President General of AYCF, Yerima Shettima, claimed in a statement, that they received credible information regarding a Governor’s intention to finance protests across the northern region for personal gain.
“The AYCF believes that the Governor.. plans to orchestrate these protests to tarnish the image.”
“The organization is thus calling on the Federal Government, particularly the Department of Security Services, to monitor activities closely..We caution the people of Zamfara to remain vigilant and resist any attempt to incite them into untoward actions.”
“The tactics are aimed at preempting the forthcoming judgment of the Supreme Court in the Governorship Elections petition..”
The organization urged the Supreme Court to stand firm, not be intimidated, and ensure the fair and just dispensation of justice.
“We specifically call on the esteemed Justices of the Supreme Court to resolve the disputed 98,000 votes in favor of Matawalle and declare him as the rightful winner of the Governorship Election. “
NEN also called on the Federal Government to take proactive measures in dealing with any form of dissent or incitement to misconduct that may arise from the outcome of the expected Supreme Court ruling on the Zamfara Governorship appeal.
NEN emphasized the importance of ensuring the country’s stability, urging the government to be prepared and steadfast in the face of any desperate attempts to subvert it.
In a statement issued by the Chairman of NEN, Suleiman Abbah, the group stated that the use of the Biomodal Voters’ Accreditation System (BVAS) in elections was not a mandatory provision of the law and called on the court to resolve the dispute.
