Nigerian motorcyclist Ebaide Joy releases new book on survival, recovery

Nigerian adventurer and travel storyteller, Ebaide Joy, has officially released her debut memoir, From Wheelchair To Motorcyclist, chronicling her remarkable journey from surviving a devastating spinal injury to traveling across countries on a motorcycle.

The newly released memoir captures the emotional and life-altering experiences that shaped the last decade of her life after an accident left her confined to a wheelchair and uncertain about her future.

Today, Ebaide is widely recognised for her solo motorcycle adventures around the world, a journey that has earned her growing international attention and conversations surrounding her Guinness World Record application.

According to the Nigerian writer, the book was inspired by her desire to tell the complete story behind the viral travel videos and social media updates that many followers had come to know her for.

“For a long time, I felt like my story was too big to exist in just videos or posts,” she said. “I wanted to put everything into something that would last forever.”

The memoir details some of the most difficult moments of her life, including the accident that damaged her spine, the painful recovery process, learning to walk again, and eventually finding healing and freedom through life on the road.

Over the years, Ebaide has travelled thousands of kilometres across different countries, documenting border crossings, camping experiences, cultural encounters, and the realities of solo motorcycle travel.

Her resilience and determination have inspired thousands of supporters across Africa and beyond, with many followers describing her story as a symbol of courage and perseverance in the face of adversity.

Since the announcement of the memoir’s release, readers have continued sharing emotional reactions online, with some describing the book as deeply moving and difficult to put down.

Speaking on the significance of the project, Ebaide explained that the memoir represents more than simply publishing a book.

“It’s proof that my life did not end after the accident,” she stated.
