Dr. Dennis Osahon Aikoriogie, a prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State, has applauded the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Chief Nyesom Wike, for what he described as an “unmatched and visible transformation” of Abuja.
Reacting to recent protests against the FCT Minister, Aikoriogie labeled them as “unfair and ethnically motivated,” urging Nigerians to rise above tribal sentiments and acknowledge Wike’s remarkable developmental strides.
“From the day Chief Wike assumed office, he made it clear that he was not in Abuja for politics or propaganda — he came to deliver. And he is delivering daily,” Aikoriogie stated. “This is not a matter of opinion; it is a fact backed by visible, tangible achievements.”
In a statement issued to the press, Aikoriogie outlined a number of infrastructural projects currently underway across the FCT, including the construction and rehabilitation of roads, bridges, street lighting, water infrastructure, and electrification of rural communities.
He noted that areas such as Ketti, Gwagwalada, Abaji, and Bwari, which had long suffered neglect, are now experiencing meaningful government presence and connection to the city center.
“Remote villages are no longer isolated. These road networks are lifelines — they connect farmers to markets, children to schools, and patients to hospitals,” he said.
He further highlighted the improvement in security, attributing it to strategic street lighting projects across Abuja and its suburbs, which he said have helped deter criminal activities and revitalized nighttime economic activity.
On access to clean water, Aikoriogie commended the Wike-led administration’s efforts in delivering pipe-borne water to underserved areas.
“Mothers no longer trek long distances with buckets. Children are drinking clean water. These are quiet revolutions that genuinely improve lives,” he added.
Describing the protests against Wike as politically driven and laced with ethnic undertones, Aikoriogie cautioned against reducing developmental efforts to tribal fault lines.
“Chief Wike is not building Abuja for any tribe, religion, or region. He is building for all Nigerians — Christians, Muslims, northerners, southerners. The FCT belongs to everyone.”
He urged residents and all Nigerians to rally behind the minister and support his vision of a modern, inclusive, and functional capital city.
“While they stage protests, Wike is laying asphalt. While they fan ethnic sentiments, Wike is digging boreholes. While they seek headlines, Wike is delivering light, water, and connectivity to the people,” Aikoriogie declared.
