Rep Laguda presents report on bill to establish Nat’l Commission to regulate polytechnics education

The Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Polytechnic Education, representing Surulere Constituency 1, Rt. Hon Fuad Laguda has on Wednesday, presented a report of the committee on a Bill for an Act to establish the National Polytechnics Commission.

Laguda, in a statement he signed, revealed the recommendations of the Bill.

According to the Lawmaker representing Surulere Constituency 1, “The report recommends the establishment of the National Commission for Higher Technical Education To Supervise, regulate and coordinate polytechnics And Higher Technical Education In Nigeria and for Related Matters”.

Laguda described the presentation as a ” step towards refining the polytechnic and technical education sector”.

He wrote,” On behalf of the House Committee on Federal Polytechnic and Higher Technical Education, which I chair, I presented the report of the committee on a bill for an act to establish the National Polytechnics Commission to supervise, regulate and coordinate polytechnic education in Nigeria and for related matters.

The report recommends the establishment of the National Commission for Higher Technical Education To Supervise, regulate and coordinate polytechnics And Higher Technical Education In Nigeria and for Related Matters.

While the report has been presented to the House for third reading and subsequent passage, this is undoubtedly a step towards refining the polytechnic and technical education sector.”

Vanguard reported that earlier this year, Fuad Laguda sponsored a Bill seeking to prohibit, penalise organ trafficking in Nigeria.

The Bill aimed to ensure that culprits of organ trafficking in Nigeria would face the consequences of their actions, with stiff penalties.
