Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Delta state and immediate past Chairman Warri south local government area, Dr Michael Tidi, has charged members of the party to remain firm and committed , saying those who decamped to the All Progressives Congress, APC, were mainly political appointees.

Tidi spoke at a gathering of the PDP in Warri South local government area, Delta state, maintaining that the party was still firmly on ground in the state.

“Most of those who left were political appointees. But many core party faithful remained, some appointees even resigned their appointments in protest. That speaks volumes,” he said.

It would be recalled that governor of the state, Sheriff Oborevwori , his predecessor Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, council executives , most members of the state House of Assembly and several political appointees of the governor recently decamped to the APC.

Tidi said the party would continue its membership drive across Warri south , Warri south West and Warri North and other neighboring areas to expound its base ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The gathering also passed a vote of confidence in the acting Chairman South south of the party, Elder Emmanuel Ogidi , assuring that they would work closely with him to build the party into a stronger force poised for victory in the state.

“Let’s stop scrambling for positions and start organising. In my own ward, we’ve already begun compiling names and preparing. As the APC updates its registers, we too must reinforce our grassroots base. The future belongs to those who organize—not just politic.”, he said.
