The leadership of Okurowhe Community, Okpe local government area of Delta state, yesterday, during a counter peaceful against those protesters calling for the removal of Chief Augustine Usinefe Ogedegbe as the President General of the community, said the community has only one president general and he remains Chief Augustine Usinefe Ogedegbe.
The leaders and eldest man of the community, Pa John Atigolo, Secretary, Comrade Daniel Erhirhie and others who made the declaration at the Okurowhe Community yesterday said Chief Augustine Ogedegbe has been diligently serving the community as their President General and he has done well, so he remains the president general of the community.
While urging the protesters calling for the removal of their President General, Chief Augustine Usinefe Ogedegbe to tender an unreserved apology to the entire community and the president general for their actions, they said they never part of such decisions and the community will not hesitate to take drastic action on anyone found wanton of such act.
The leaders of the community who also passed a vote of confidence during a counter peaceful protest against some few family members who allegedly called for the removal of their President General, Chief Augustine Ogedegbe, with unconfirmed allegations that are lies from the pit of hell because of their personal interest.
The eldest man of the community, Pa John Atigolo, Secretary, Comrade Daniel Erhirhie and other community leaders who spoke to newsmen pledged their unalloyed support for Ogedegbe’s leadership, and warned those calling for the removal of the president general to repent so that their since will be forgiven.
The Okurowhe Community youths, women and men in their hundreds yesterday abandoned their farm and businesses and embarked on a counter peaceful protest against the purported protest for the removal of the President General of the community, Chief Augustine Ogedegbe, saying that Ogedegbe remains their President General.
The angry protesters carried placard with different inscription such as, “The indigenes of Okurowhe community says Ogedegbe again, Eweya says yes to Ogegegbe, Ogedegbe brought peace and happiness to Okurowhe community and the people of Okurowhe will not allow hoodlums to destroy the peace of our community brought by Ogedegbe”.
Speaking on behalf of the protesters, the Secretary of the community, Comrade Daniel Erhirhie and other community leaders, Samuel Atigolo, Clever Odire, Festus Emete had alleged that the protesters that called for the removal of the President General were members of a particular family that are bent on causing disunity in the community.
The community leaders during the counter peaceful protest has affirmed the President General of operating an open door policy, and had in the course of serving the community, attracted several projects to the community, and also ensuring there is peace and security of lives and property in the community.
They said despite being the Chairman of Ethiope East Council, Chief Augustine Ogedegbe has carried out his duties as demanded by the constitution of the community and later affirmed their unflinching supports to his leadership while passing a vote of confidence on him and urged his detractors to sheathe their sword and join force with him to move the community forward.
They noted that Chief Ogedegbe has performed excellently as President General of the community and his position as Council Chairman has not hindered his performance, hence they want him to remain and continue to serve as President General of the community.
