A northern leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Alhaji Musa Saidu , has called on the leadership of the party in the South south region to integrate northerners in the region that are leaders of the party, in its activities in the region.
Saidu expressed displeasure that northern leaders of the party residing in the South south were not actively involved in a major programme of the party in Edo state on Saturday where president Bola Tinubu was endorsed for re election by 2027.
Saidu said he is a registered voter at Ward 5 ,St Mary’s Catholic Church , Lagos Bus stop in Port Harcourt, Rivers state , adding that several northerners like him have been voting in communities in the south south region where they reside and do business.
Continuing, he said when aggregated the entire population of northern community in the region is very large, stressing that they should not be ignored in the political activities of the party.
He said : “As a leader of Arewa in the south and based in Port Harcourt, APC leadership in the south south region should know that we have massive northern votes in the region. So they should ensure we are integrated in APC programmes in the region.
“We are registered to vote in the south south . I am registered at St Mary’s ward 5 and I have been voting there.
“We are firmly in support of the re election of president Bola Tinubu. We have been the original supporters of Tinubu here. The votes we have as northerners in the south south is very large.
“There is no alternative to Tinubu for 2027. We are firmly with him. “
Saidu also urged President Tinubu to accommodate his original supporters in his empowerment programmes and appointments , stressing that many who mobilized for his election in his first term had not been empowered.
He said aggrieved members of the party were those president Tinubu should focus on addressing their issues , emphasizing that the the newly formed coalition was of no significant threat to the reelection of the president.
“Mr President should ensure that those that worked for him are carried along because some are abandoned. He has not been accessible to many of these leaders that worked for him. They are the really threat President Tinubu should be concerned about and not the newly formed coalition.
“The coalition is not a threat to his re election. Abandoning many of the original leaders who worked for him is the real threat . They are those the coalition could be targeting to work for them .”
