The Bible Society of Nigeria (BSN) has announced a proposed budget of ₦943,020,600 for the year 2026, reaffirming its commitment to making the Scriptures accessible to all Nigerians and promoting active engagement with the Bible.
In a statement released by the organization’s Media Manager, Mr. Ben Mordi, the 2026 budget represents a 97% increase from the ₦479.7 million spent in 2024, signaling a significant expansion in BSN’s activities and outreach.
Out of the total budget, ₦288,386,300 will be allocated to 10 ongoing Bible translation projects. Among them is the Nigerian Sign Language Bible, specifically designed for the deaf community, with a dedicated cost of ₦62 million. BSN noted that each full Bible translation project requires a minimum of ₦150 million and may take up to eight years to complete.
Another major initiative, The Macedonian Call, will receive ₦306,392,700. This program delivers Bibles and essential relief materials—such as food, clothing, bedding, and school supplies—to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and marginalized communities across the country.
In the first quarter of 2025, BSN spent ₦148,315,500 on Bible distribution, translation, and Scripture engagement efforts, reflecting a consistent push to reach more people with the Word of God.
Pastor Samuel Sanusi, BSN’s General Secretary and CEO, reiterated the organization’s commitment to its mission despite prevailing economic challenges.
“Our resilience, accountability, and dedication to our mission drive us. While the government plays its role, we must fulfill ours in line with the Great Commission,” he stated.
Founded as a non-profit, non-denominational Christian organization, the Bible Society of Nigeria is dedicated to translating the Bible into Nigerian languages and formats and encouraging meaningful interaction with Scripture across all demographics.
