UPM, UROAGAN pay solidarity visit to Ovie of Agbarha Warri Kingdom, advocate for Urhobo unity, justice

The leadership of the Urhobo Political Movement (UPM) and the Urhobo Oil and Gas Nationality (UROAGAN) on Friday paid a solidarity visit to His Royal Majesty, Kingsley Emakpor Orereh, Igbi II, the Ovie of Agbarha Warri Kingdom, reaffirming their commitment to the unity, peace, and development of the Urhobo Nation.

The delegation was led by Chief (Dr.) Obiuwevbi Ominimini, who doubles as the National Chairman of both UPM and UROAGAN. While addressing the monarch, Chief Ominimini commended the Agbarha Warri people and their king for their resilience and unwavering stance on the fresh delineation of the Warri Federal Constituency, aimed at correcting what he described as a long-standing political error that marginalized the Urhobo people of Warri South.

“Warri City belongs to the Urhobo people, and no inch of our ancestral land should be ceded to any neighboring group,” Chief Ominimini said. “The fresh delineation ordered by the Supreme Court is a golden opportunity to correct past political miscalculations and restore justice.”

The UPM and UROAGAN leader pledged full support from both organizations toward ensuring the realization of Urhobo aspirations in the ongoing constituency delineation process. He urged the monarch to call upon the groups for any assistance required to achieve their common goal.

During the visit, Chief Ominimini also informed the royal father of a new initiative by a coalition of Urhobo patriots, under his leadership, working towards the creation of an Urhobo State. He emphasized that issues affecting the Agbarha Warri Kingdom concern the entire Urhobo Nation.

“Whatever affects Agbarha Warri is a call to action for all Urhobos,” he declared.

In his response, HRM Kingsley Emakpor Orereh expressed gratitude to the delegation for their visit and solidarity. He commended their commitment to advancing the Urhobo cause and urged them to remain focused and united.

“We must always see ourselves as one people regardless of our various kingdoms. The strength of Urhobo lies in our unity,” the monarch said.

The visit underscores renewed calls for unity among the Urhobo people and a stronger push for equitable political representation in Delta State.
