The National Executive Council (NEC) and entire members of National Union of Textile, Garment and Tailoring Workers of Nigeria (NUTGTWN),have congratulated Comrade Issa Aremu for his reappointment as the Director General of Michael Imoudu National Institute for Labour Studies (MINILS), Ilorin.
In a statement by the General Secretary of the Union, Ali Baba,the textile workers said they were.”excited with the recent reappointment of a very distinguished labour leader, two-term Vice President of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Vice President of IndustriALL Global Union and former General Secretary of our great union, Comrade Issa Aremu, NPOM, mni as Director General of the prestigious Michael Imoudu National Institute for Labour Studies (MINILS), Ilorin, Kwara State by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.”
“MINILS is a foremost labour institute established in 1983 by the administration of former President Shehu Shari with the objective of providing frontline and qualitative education to workers and other parties in the nation’s industrial relations system.”
According to the statement, Issa Aremu was first appointed by former President Muhammed Buhari in May, 2021 as the first Comrade Director General/CEO of the institute in recognition of his globally acknowledged contribution to workers education, labour administration and national development.
“As an affiliate of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), we bear witness to the remarkable transformation, renewed relevance and increased engagement of MINILS with both national and international stakeholders in the labour movement, under the leadership of Comrade Issa Aremu, mni.”
“Comrade Issa Aremu’s reappointment by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for second term as Director General/CEO of MINILS is a remarkable testimony and official acknowledgement of his commitment, unwavering dedication, visionary leadership, and outstanding contributions to labour education and policy development in Nigeria. Indeed, his reappointment signals a renewed opportunity to consolidate on the gains of his previous tenure and to advance the mission of MINILS as a centre of excellence for labour education, research, and policy advocacy.”
“We heartily congratulate our dear former General Secretary, Comrade Issa Aremu and wish him greater success in this renewed term. Our profound appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for taking the right decision through the approval of his reappointment.”
The Union called on all staff and stakeholders of the Institute to give the Director-General their utmost cooperation and support to ensure the continued development, stability, and progress of the Institute.
” It is through collective commitment and professionalism that MINILS can achieve its mandate of promoting decent work, industrial harmony, and effective social dialogue in our dear country, Nigeria,”the statement added.
