Singer, Mishkid’s speaks on journey to Afrobeat greatness

Meshael Obi Felix, popularly known as Mishkid, hails from the eastern part of Nigeria in Delta State but was born on October 21, 1998, in Lagos State, Nigeria.

Mishkid doesn’t know much about his dad, who was assassinated along with his only sister when he was just 3 years old. It was his eldest brother who later helped him understand who their father truly was.

Tragedy struck again in 2005 when Mishkid’s mother was poisoned. This devastating loss triggered a mental breakdown for the young boy. Deeply attached to his mother, Mishkid lived in fear throughout his high school years, haunted by grief and uncertainty.

Despite the darkness, Mishkid found light in music. He officially launched his music career in 2023 with his debut album “Introvert,” which has since amassed over 3 million streams across all platforms — a remarkable feat for a rising star.

In September 2024, Mishkid announced his highly anticipated second studio album, “Son of Light.” The project, set for release on July 24, 2025, features 12 tracks and a bonus song — each track offering deeper insight into his life journey.

Gifted, talented, and inspiring, Mishkid writes, records, and edits all his songs himself. He is also an executive producer on several outside projects, proving his versatility and dedication to the craft.

Driven by the memory of his late mother, Mishkid’s music often carries emotional depth and personal storytelling that resonates with listeners. “Son of Light” is not just an album — it’s a chapter of healing, strength, and purpose.

On July 24, Mishkid begins a new journey — one that transforms pain into power and promises to leave an unforgettable mark on the Afrobeat landscape.
