Senator Ovie Omo-Agege
As Muslims across Nigeria and around the world mark the sacred festival of Eid-el-kabir, Deputy President in the 9th Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, has felicitated the Muslim Ummah, urging them to join the federal government in working for the restoration of peace and security in the country.
In his message, Omo-Agege urged religious leaders to continue to preach the values of selflessness and compassion, which the festival symbolises.
“This sacred occasion is not only a celebration of the historic faith and devotion of Holy Prophet Mohammed, but also a clarion call to all Nigerians—Christians, Muslims, and people of all faiths—to embrace unity, tolerance, and our shared humanity,” Senator Omo-Agege stated.
He urged Muslims across the country to emulate the values exemplified by Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him), including sacrifice, compassion, justice, humility, and generosity—qualities greatly needed in today’s Nigeria.
“This sacred occasion is not only a celebration of the historic faith and devotion of Holy Prophet Mohammed, but also a clarion call to all Nigerians—Christians, Muslims, and people of all faiths—to embrace unity, tolerance, and our shared humanity,” Omo-Agege noted.
Senator Omo-Agege urged the Muslim faithful to embrace the teachings of Islam during this period, which according to him underscores the significance of selflessness and compassion towards others.
