Nigerian newspapers review: Stakeholders disagree with WAEC, NECO on use of CBT for SSCE

In today’s Nigerian newspapers’ review programme, Today in the News, Vanguard leads with stakeholders in the education sector such as the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) and the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) disagreeing with the West African Examination Council (WAEC) and the National Examination Council (NECO) on the use of Computer-Based Test (CBT) for the Senior School Certificate Examinations (SSCE).

Another headline gives an update on the flood in Niger State as 200 persons have been recorded dead and 503 households affected.

Also, one headline has the minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, saying confidently that no one could sack him from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Moving over to other Nigerian newspapers, The Guardian’s lead headline says 97 per cent of public varsities default in online visibility and transparency order.

The Punch leads with Wike’s endorsement of President Bola Tinubu for a second term, sparking opposition firestorm.

Finally, The Nation’s top headline has Wike giving his take on the 2027 elections, PDP, ex-governor Rotimi Amaechi and the suspended governor Siminalayi Fubara.
