Metrospeed’s Metro Smart City project gains momentum with ExxonMobil partnership

Metrospeed’s Metro Smart City project gains momentum with ExxonMobil partnership

L-R: President EMCOOP, ISIBOR IYASELE; CEO Metrospeed Group, DELE OYEFUGA, IRETI OYEFUGA and EMCOOP Ex-Officio, KENNETH OKOROH as ExxonMobil Staff Cooperative Multipurpose Society Limited signs an investment agreement in commitment to the Metro Smart City being built by Metrospeed Property Development Limited.

In its resolve to create a good quality of life experience for Nigerians through its smart city initiative, Metrospeed Property Development Limited has signed another major partnership contract with ExxonMobil Staff Cooperative Society Limited.

The contract signing ceremony, which took place at Metrospeed’s office at Lekki on Wednesday, validates the firm’s mission as its lofty smart city ideas continue to gain traction with multinationals.

This is coming barely two weeks after the real estate firm signed a partnership agreement with the leadership of Chevron Employees Multipurpose Cooperative Society (CEMCS).

Describing the partnership with ExxonMobil staff as strategic, Dele Oyefuga, the CEO of Metrospeed Group, said the agreement reflects resilience, execution, and his firm’s relentless pursuit of excellence.

“This partnership is strategic. It speaks to confidence not just in our product, but in our governance, delivery capacity, and long-term value creation,” Oyefuga said.

According to him, the partnership aligns with Metrospeed’s Smartcity project, adding that the alliance is based on the positive experiences of cooperatives in infrastructural development.

With China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation Ltd (CCECC) as the firm’s technical partner, Oyefuga said the 97-hectare project is a blueprint for smart city evolution in Africa.

“Metro Smart City is not just a development; it’s a blueprint for how African cities should evolve — smart, sustainable, secure, and premium. We are combining innovation, technology, and urban planning to serve future generations,” he stated.

Speaking after the contract signing ceremony, the President of ExxonMobil Cooperative, Isibor Iyasele, said the partnership will afford members of the cooperative the opportunity to key into what would bring good value.

“Everybody needs a place to stay and real estate is something everybody will have something to do with. This will provide members of our cooperative an opportunity to key into something which we think will bring good value for our members. That’s the objective.”

Isibo said members of the cooperative are hopeful about the partnership, saying their interactions with Metrospeed representatives have been good and encouraging.

In her submission, Metrospeed Group’s Head of Sales & Marketing, Emike Ntiokiet, said the firm’s partnership with the staff of the oil company reaffirms the market’s growing confidence in the real estate company.

Emike maintained that Metrospeed is not building a city but a future with forward-thinking investors through a project that’s strategically positioned to redefine urban living and investment.

According to her, ExxonMobil as an investor, didn’t just buy land; she said, “they bought into the future.

They saw the infrastructure, the scalability, the lifestyle proposition and most importantly, the returns.”

“We are experiencing a strong traction curve — driven by product confidence, premium positioning, and effective messaging. Our strategy is to continue attracting forward-thinking investors and early believers,” she said.

As Metrospeed’s smart city project continues to attract multinationals, Debo Omotunde, the firm’s business consultant, emphasised that the project provides a premium lifestyle for every Nigerian who seek to invest in commercial assets, adding that the project is open to both individuals and corporate organisations.

He added that the project presents opportunities that tell Nigerians that the smart city experience they are looking for abroad is here in their country at a better deal.

“We’re not waiting for people from outside the country to offer us the quality of life that we have within our environment, we can be innovative and be committed to improving the quality of life we live here,” Omotunde said.
