A civic group known as the Action Collective has expressed concern regarding ongoing legal proceedings involving Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.

In a statement signed by its National Coordinator, Mr. Teddy Onyejuwe, the group called for transparency and fairness in all legal matters concerning elected officials.

The statement referred to what it described as “recent legal steps” involving Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan and emphasized the importance of upholding due process and the independence of the judiciary. It also commended the judiciary for its handling of the case so far, particularly the decision not to issue a bench warrant, which the group described as a sign of judicial restraint.

The Action Collective also referenced past political challenges faced by Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan and praised what it sees as her consistent engagement with constituents. “She has remained focused on her legislative responsibilities and has continued to interact positively with her constituency,” the statement noted.

The group appealed to national leaders, including President Bola Tinubu, to support the integrity of the judicial process and ensure that the rule of law is preserved in all cases. It also encouraged civil society organizations and Nigerians to remain observant and engaged to promote democratic values.

Reaffirming its belief in the country’s judicial institutions, the Action Collective expressed optimism that the courts would continue to function independently and uphold justice. The group concluded by thanking Nigerians for their civic vigilance and reiterated its commitment to supporting lawful democratic processes.
