KADUNA — Former Member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Shehu Bawa ABG, has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic death of 11 Islamic school pupils who lost their lives in a mudslide in Kubau Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
In a condolence message, ABG described the incident as a colossal tragedy, not only for the bereaved families but for the entire state.
“It was a tragedy whose bitter memory will linger for a long time in the hearts of the people of Kaduna State,” he stated.
Hon. ABG prayed for Allah’s mercy upon the souls of the deceased children, and extended heartfelt condolences to their parents and families, asking God to grant them strength and comfort in this difficult time.
He also sympathized with the Government and people of Kaduna State, expressing hope that such a devastating incident would never occur again.
It will be recalled that the 11 Almajiri pupils died when a sand heap collapsed on them while they were excavating sand at Yardoka village in Kubau LGA. Seven others were rescued with injuries and taken to the Primary Healthcare Centre in Yardoka for treatment.
“The loss of these children is an unforgettable tragedy in the history of our dear state. It is even more painful because they were young learners with hopes and dreams for a better future,” ABG said.
“It was with a heavy heart that I received the sad news of the death of these little learners, who were devoted to learning the Qur’an despite the harsh conditions associated with such a pursuit. May Allah, in His infinite mercy, forgive them and grant them Aljannatul Firdaus.”
