The former National TV Woman Leader of the All Progressives Congress APC, and Executive Director (Business Development) Nexim Bank, Stella Okotete has condemned incessant abduction of children in Agbarho community and its environs and vowed to bring the ugly incident to the attention of the state, federal government and Inspector General of Police.
Okotete made this vow when she visited the Palace of the Osuivie of Agbarho as part of her schedule to drum support for President Bola Tinubu and Gov. Sheriff Oborevwori, where the monarch briefed her on the ugly trend of abduction of children in Agbarho.
While condemning the act, Okotete described the action of the abductors as heartless and nefarious, tasking the local vigilantes to mobilise and work in synergy with the police with a view to curbing the menace, stating that the report that the criminal activities are becoming a recurrent incident in Agbarho, being orchestrated by a criminal gang who must be flushed out.
She expressed her displeasures over the security architecture of Agbarho community, attributing the inability of the security agencies to identify and arrest the culprits to lack of seriousness and intelligence gathering.
Okotete said: “This is a crime against humanity and the entire security agencies must collaborate in carrying out local intelligence and serious networking. Abducting innocent children for ransom and ritual is barbaric and evil. The perpetrators must be identified and flushed out immediately before it gets out of hand.”
Okotete, therefore, promised to seek the intervention of the Inspector General of police to draft in a special team to Agbarho in order to tackle this wicked act of the criminals once and for all.
She assured parents whose children were abducted to be hopeful as they will not be abandoned by the government. She also admonished parents to be vigilant and watchful over their children and to report suspicious movement of strange faces to the police and the local vigilante, adding: “Security is every man’s business and the people must assist the police with useful information to guide their investigation.”
