In a year where only 0.88% of 1.9 million UTME candidates scored 300 and above, 15-year-old Anyaibe Favour Uchechi has emerged as one of Nigeria’s brightest young minds.

Uchechi, the outgoing Senior Prefect of Shalom College, Port Harcourt, scored an impressive aggregate of 324 in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), earning national attention for her exceptional performance.

Her breakdown of scores tells a story of brilliance: Physics – 91, Chemistry – 85, Biology – 77, English – 71.

A native of Imo State but raised in Port Harcourt, Favour embodies the kind of academic excellence and leadership that many institutions hope to nurture. Beyond the classroom, she is an avid writer and the founder of her school’s literary club, a platform she created to encourage creativity, expression, and a love for literature among her peers.

Her achievements aren’t limited to academics—Favour has also bagged several awards from her school, distinguishing herself as both a scholar and a student leader. Her dream? To study Nursing and contribute meaningfully to the health sector, a goal she speaks of with a quiet determination.

“I want to help people. Nursing allows you to care, to connect, and to make a difference in people’s lives every single day,” she said in a brief comment following the release of her result.

As the nation continues to search for hope and heroes among its youth, Favour’s story is one that inspires. It is a story of hard work, passion, and the belief that excellence is possible, even in challenging times.

She stands today not just as a top scorer, but as a symbol of what Nigerian youth can achieve with the right support and opportunities.

For now, this brilliant teenager awaits the next chapter; university admission and the journey toward becoming a nurse. But for many who hear her story, Anyaibe Favour Uchechi has already made her mark.
