The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has raised concerns over the state of infrastructure development under the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke, following reports that a newly constructed road in the Aduramigba, Ido-Osun area was affected by rainfall shortly after completion.
In a statement issued by the party’s spokesperson, Mr. Kola Olabisi, the APC referenced media reports and public reactions to the incident, describing it as “unfortunate” and “indicative of the need for stricter quality control measures in public infrastructure projects.”
According to the statement, “Our party has consistently called for transparency and accountability in the award and execution of contracts. The recent case in Aduramigba lends credence to our appeal for improved oversight and technical supervision in the delivery of capital projects.”
The APC stated that while it acknowledges the efforts of the current administration in road rehabilitation, it believes that greater attention should be paid to the durability and long-term sustainability of such projects.
“We urge the state government to conduct a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the road’s reported damage and make public the findings, including the identity of the contractor,” the statement added.
Mr. Olabisi further encouraged the government to use the incident as an opportunity to reinforce quality assurance protocols and ensure that contractors adhere strictly to approved engineering standards.
Commenting on broader governance, the APC expressed the view that Osun State must prioritise people-focused development and work towards improving basic service delivery across sectors.
“We believe constructive engagement and transparency are essential to sustaining the trust of the people and achieving meaningful progress,” he noted.
The party also appealed to residents to remain vigilant and engage authorities through appropriate channels when issues arise, stressing the importance of community involvement in project monitoring.
As of the time of this report, the state government is yet to issue a formal response to the situation. Residents of the affected community have called for immediate remedial action to prevent further damage and ensure safety.
