Michael Oglegba celebrates Gov Alia on 59th birthday, commends his transformational leadership
The Honourable Commissioner of Finance, Benue State, Mr. Michael Oglegba, has extended warm felicitations to the Executive Governor of Benue State, His Excellency Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, on the auspicious occasion of his 59th birthday anniversary. In a heartfelt statement, Oglegba praised the Governor for his exemplary servant leadership, unwavering love for the people, and steadfast commitment to the development of Benue State.
Mr. Oglegba reflected on Governor Alia’s remarkable journey since assuming office, noting that his administration has brought a fresh wave of hope, integrity, and progress to the state. He recalled that from the very beginning, Governor Alia demonstrated a rare and selfless dedication to the welfare of the people, distinguishing himself from previous administrations. One of the Governor’s first acts in office was to prioritise the well-being of civil servants and retirees by ensuring the prompt payment of their salaries and entitlements—a move that immediately signalled his compassionate and people-centred approach to governance.
“Governor Hyacinth Alia is a leader who truly understands the pains and aspirations of the people,” Oglegba stated. “From day one, he made it clear that his administration would not tolerate the suffering of workers and pensioners who had endured months, and in some cases, years, of unpaid wages. His decisive action to clear salary backlogs and restore dignity to our workforce was a clear indication that Benue was entering a new era of responsible and responsive governance.”
The Commissioner further extolled the Governor’s visionary leadership, highlighting his relentless efforts to revitalise the state’s economy, improve infrastructure, and create an enabling environment for sustainable development. Under Governor Alia’s watch, Benue has witnessed significant strides in agriculture, education, healthcare, and rural development, all of which are testaments to his deep-rooted commitment to uplifting the lives of the people.
“Governor Alia’s leadership is defined by action, not mere words,” Oglegba continued. “He has shown an unmatched passion for transforming Benue into a model of prosperity and good governance. Whether it is through the modernisation of our agricultural sector, the rehabilitation of critical infrastructure, or the implementation of policies that promote transparency and accountability, His Excellency has proven that he is a leader with a clear vision and the courage to execute it.”
Mr. Oglegba also commended the Governor for his humility, accessibility, and willingness to listen to the concerns of ordinary citizens. Unlike many in positions of power, Governor Alia has remained grounded, often engaging directly with communities to understand their challenges and proffer solutions. This rare trait, Oglegba noted, has endeared him to the people and reinforced their trust in his administration.
“Beyond his policies and projects, what truly sets Governor Alia apart is his heart for the people,” Oglegba remarked. “He leads with empathy, treats everyone with respect, and constantly seeks ways to alleviate the hardships faced by the masses. His leadership style is a reflection of his priestly vocation—one rooted in service, sacrifice, and love for humanity.”
As Governor Hyacinth Alia marks his 59th birthday, Mr. Oglegba expressed confidence that the best is yet to come for Benue State under his guidance. He prayed for God’s continued wisdom, strength, and good health for the Governor, urging all citizens to rally behind his administration in the collective pursuit of a greater Benue.
“On this special day, I join millions of well-wishers across the state and beyond to celebrate a man of integrity, a selfless leader, and a true father of the state,” Oglegba concluded. “Your Excellency, as you celebrate this milestone, may God grant you many more years of impactful service. Benue State is blessed to have you at the helm, and we are confident that your legacy will endure for generations to come.”
