…Says Nigeria Needs Healing
By Chioma Onuegbu, Uyo
The President of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Bishop Francis Wale Oke, has stated that iniquity is responsible for Nigeria’s current challenges.
Bishop Oke made this assertion while speaking with newsmen upon his arrival at the Victor Attah International Airport, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, for a conference marking 40 years of the PFN in the state.
He lamented the country’s worsening economic and security conditions, including rising inflation and widespread poverty, and prayed for God’s light to shine through Nigeria.
Commenting on the theme of the conference, “PFN Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow,” Bishop Oke noted that it symbolizes Nigeria’s journey—reflecting on God’s past works, acknowledging His present interventions, and seeking His guidance for the future.
“Nigeria needs definite intervention, and such can only come from God Almighty. Things cannot continue like this. How God is going to do it is in His hands because He is involved,” he said.
“For entrusting the leadership of PFN into our hands, we have the duty to deliver Nigeria,” he added.
The PFN President described violent killings, banditry, and kidnapping as evils that have contributed to Nigeria’s current state, stressing that these are works of darkness.
“It is iniquity that has brought Nigeria to where it is today. Violent killings, banditry, and kidnapping are evil and are the works of the devil. PFN is bringing the light of God. The Bible says that when the light shines in darkness, the darkness cannot comprehend it,” he declared.
Bishop Oke, who also serves as the Presiding Bishop of the Sword of the Spirit Church, expressed optimism that the positive change Nigerians yearn for would soon come. He called on Christian leaders and citizens to continue seeking God’s intervention.
“I want to assure you that there is light for Nigeria. Nigeria will be better. Let us join our hands together and call on God, believe His words and His Prophets, and God will shine His light on Nigeria,” he encouraged.
Quoting the scriptures, he added: “He has said in His word: ‘If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves and seek My face, I will hear from heaven and heal their land.’ Nigeria needs healing, and that is why we are here. We will pray, and God will hear us and heal Nigeria,” he concluded.
