Gov Sule warns redundant, absconding local govt workers to desist or be sacked

—warns appointees against interfering with the appointment of new teachers

Worried over the non challant and lackadaisical actitude to duty by some local government workers in the state, governor Abdullahi Sule warns that strict action would be taken if such action not curtailed.

Governor Sule gave the warning at the inauguration of local Nasarawa state Local Government Service Commission and the Nasarawa state Universal Basic Education Board, NSUBEB.

Governor Sule noted with regret how some local government workers will desert their duty posts and relocate to the city.

“I noticed with dissatisfaction that some local government workers only have their names in the voucher, and are monthly salaries are collected, who have relocated to the city with no value addition. This must stop if we want to make progress.

“It is part of our resolve to reposition the local government council with the full autonomy granted to the local government by the constitution.

Sule urged the local government service commission to ensure the realisation of the state government to improve the social economy of people in the rural areas by ensuring local government functions accordingly.

Sule also warned all his appointees and elected officers in the state against interfering with the set out recruitment of new teachers in state.

He regretted that the previous recruitment of teachers by the teachers’ service commission was characterised by fraud, leading to the sack of the chairman of the teachers’ service commission.

Sule announced that another 1500 teachers would be recruited to fill the space in both primary and secondary schools across the state.

Sule disclosed that experts have been hired to carry out the recruitment process to ensure capable teachers are employed to drive the education to achieve his education agenda for the state.

He therefore warned all government officials and appointees to desist from any form of interference.

Sule urged all interested qualify applicant to avail themselves of the opportunity to participate in the process and not to remain at home crying there is no job.

Sule charged all the appointees inaugurated to ensure live above board and justify the confidence place on them through discipline, dedication, patriotism and adherence to the rule of law above their personal interest.
