Nigeria’s growing car parts market is catching global attention, and this was seen at the 2025 edition of the West Africa Automotive Show (WAAS), which began on Tuesday, May 13, at the Landmark Centre in Lagos.

Over 300 exhibitors from around the world, including countries like China, India, and Turkey, are showcasing their products at the event. From brake pads, tyres, and engine parts to new technology, WAAS 2025 has brought together top companies hoping to partner with Nigerian businesses and explore the huge opportunities in the country’s auto sector.

Nigeria’s auto parts market is said to be worth over ₦1.4 trillion yearly, making it one of the biggest in Africa.

“We see Nigeria as a very important market,” said Ninglin Yuan of Turbo Mechanical Equipment from China. “We’re here to build relationships and support the development of the auto industry.”

AbdulRahman Alsahar, Export Sales Specialist for Kale Balata from Turkey, said his company makes top-quality brake parts and clutch systems. “We’re happy to bring our safe and durable products to Nigeria. We see a lot of potential here.”

From India, Amiya Kumar Gupta, Head of International Business at Hartex Rubber Pvt Ltd, said his company is offering quality tyres at affordable prices. “Our tyres are among the best in the world, and we believe Nigerian customers deserve both quality and value,” he added.

The organizer of the show, Georgina Lloyd, who is the Exhibition Manager at BtoB Events, said this year’s show is the biggest ever. “We’ve been doing this for years, and WAAS 2025 is the biggest edition yet,” she said. “Nigeria is the perfect place for this kind of exhibition. If you want to meet the whole West African market, this is the place to be.”

She added that the show is not just about business but also about bringing the latest innovations and helping Nigeria’s automotive industry grow. “We’re bringing global ideas to help improve local development,” she said.

WAAS 2025 also features a major conference on the future of transport in West Africa, discussing important topics like electric vehicles, better mobility, and modern car technology.

The event runs until Thursday, May 15, and is expected to help build strong partnerships between Nigerian and international automotive businesses. It’s another step in making Nigeria a major hub for car parts and auto services in Africa.
