UMUAHIA- A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Hon. Ebere Uzoukwa, has accused Barr. Julius Abure of using all means to perpetuate himself in office despite the expiration of his four year tenure.
Uzoukwa alleged that Abure’s desperation to cling to power is fuelled by his plan to use the party to serve the interest of his pay masters in the 2027 general election.
He stated that Abure’s tenure was marked with controversy, propaganda and disregard for party regulations leaving the Labour Party in shambles.
In an interview with Vanguard in Umuahia Uzoukwa, who is the Senior Special Assistant on Public Affairs to the Abia State Governor, said he has been wondering why a lawyer of Abure’s standing has continued to disobey the judgment of the Supreme Court which held that he is no longer the national chairman of the Labour Party.
He commended the 2023 Presidential candidate of the Party,Mr. Peter Obi,Abia State Governor,Dr. Alex Otti, and other leaders for their timely intervention in rescuing the party from Abure and his sponsors’s plots
He said; “Barr. Julius Abure is using all means to cling to power. This has led him into disobeying the clear judgment of the supreme court which ruled that his tenure has ended. You can see him playing all sorts of games to serve the interest of his pay masters for the 2027 general elections. He wants Labour Party distabilized at all cost.
“One of the games is the purported suspension of Governor Alex Otti. This did not come as a surprise. This action was planned following Governor Otti and other leaders’ roles in retrieving the Labour Party from Abure and his fellow political merchants.
“The shenanigans surrounding the suspension of Governor Otti, the only Governor produced by the Labour Party, and other distinguished leaders, are a desperate, laughable, and pathetic attempt to cling to power.
“Abure’s desperation is palpable and his latest action has further exposed his crumbling grip on reality. Abure has consistently demonstrated his ineptitude and failed attempts to assert authority he no longer possesses.
“His tenure was marked by controversy, chaos, and a trail of destruction, leaving the Labour Party in shambles.
“The Supreme Court has unequivocally stated that Abure is no longer the National Chairman of the Labour Party, but he is clinging on to power to serve the interest of those who doesn’t mean well for the party.
“It is shocking that a lawyer of Julius Abure’s standing has continued to parade himself as national chairman, issuing statements that are an affront to democracy and a mockery of the judiciary , when the apex court has ruled that his tenure has expired. Abure’s actions are those of a desperate clown, clinging to a crown he no longer deserves. His antics have consequences, including the mess surrounding the party’s financial records.
“His mercantile politics are more concerned with protecting his own corrupt interests than serving the party.”
Uzoukwa lauded the Senator Nenadi Usman-led National caretaker committee’s invitation to Abure to answer for his actions as a step in the right direction.
“Members of the party are demanding accountability from Abure-led former national leadership. Kudos to Governor Otti for his exemplary leadership and thoughtful interventions. His purported suspension by Abure’s gang is nothing but a bad joke and a futile attempt to perpetuate himself into office for 2027 transactional politics.
“At this point, we expect the Inspector General of Police to arrest Abure for impersonation and INEC to implement the Supreme Court judgment to preserve the integrity of our democracy. Abure’s actions are a threat to democracy, and it’s time to take action.
“The Senator Nenadi Usman-led National Caretaker Committee deserves great commendations for its tireless efforts to rebuild and reposition the Labour Party at all levels, making it a formidable force at the grassroots. The Senator Usman’s leadership has brought hope and renewed purpose to the party, and we applaud their dedication to the party’s ideals.”
