Trading gave me power to rewrite my financial story – Oji Chisimdi

Oji Chisimdi, popularly known in the trading community as *Simdiverse*, is carving a unique niche for herself in the world of financial markets. With five years of full-time experience and a background in banking, the Nigerian-born trader and educator is gaining recognition for her results-driven approach, mentorship efforts, and advocacy for female participation in trading.

Speaking on her journey, Chisimdi described how curiosity turned into a passion and eventually a thriving career. “My journey to where I am today started off out of curiosity about the markets—how mentally challenging yet profitable it can be—and over time it turned into a full-blown career,” she said. “At the core of everything I do is simply a desire to be financially stable and to empower as many people as I can through knowledge sharing.”

From banking to becoming a prominent voice in Africa’s trading scene, Chisimdi now partners with one of the world’s top three crypto exchanges, taking on roles as a trader, consultant, and educator.

Her trading style is rooted in simplicity and discipline. She focuses on U.S. indices, gold, and cryptocurrencies, relying primarily on technical analysis. “I’m a trendline girl—simple support and resistance gets the job done for me,” she said. Chisimdi also emphasizes capital protection, using a 1:3 risk-to-reward ratio in her trading decisions.

A standout accomplishment in her career was her collaboration with Bybit Exchange, where she led training sessions for over 1,000 Africans on trading fundamentals. “As someone that is pro-education, this brought me so much fulfilment,” she shared. “I still get messages at random from students from that class, telling me about their progress. This makes me so proud.”

However, the journey hasn’t been without its hurdles. In her early days, emotional management proved to be a major challenge. “It’s easy to get caught up in the highs of winning trades or the frustration of losses,” she noted. “The most valuable lesson I learned was that consistency beats intensity… emotional control is a skill, not a trait.”

Chisimdi also uses her platform to advocate for more female participation in trading. “I honestly think women tend to make better traders, and I do not say this from a place of gender bias,” she asserted. “Women from the beginning of time have been groomed to be more patient and disciplined, which are some of the most important qualities every good trader should possess.”

For aspiring traders—especially women—her advice is clear: believe in yourself, pursue knowledge relentlessly, and focus on mastering your craft rather than chasing profits. “Lots of new traders focus on how much money they can make from the get-go, instead of mastery—which takes time,” she said.

Chisimdi further revealed that her aims is to become one of the best analysts and traders out of Africa within the next decade. Her ultimate lesson to others? “Trading is one of the very few careers that I’ve seen that if you put in the work—like if you put your head down and patiently do the work—you’ll be rewarded exponentially.”
