A non governmental and non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the lives of underserved communities, Sowers Community Aid Initiative (SCAI), is proud to announce its impactful activities since inception.
SCAI, which mission is to cultivate hope and foster positive change by providing essential resources, education, healthcare, and opportunities for growth has been in operation since 2017 providing vital medical and teaching programs across various rural communities even though it was incorporated in 2022.
In a media chat, the CEO, Chikodiri Christiana Nnadi, said, “our objectives remain to empower indigenous communities in Nigeria by enhancing local skills for men, women, and children, provide educational and vocational support for children and youth in underprivileged areas.
Nnadi said, “also we involve in delivering sustainable strategies for social development, including humanitarian aids and rehabilitation programs, promoting and increasing access to free healthcare and raise health awareness in impoverished communities”.
“Again, with a focus on holistic community development, SCAI has successfully reached several communities over the past eight years, with our medical and
teaching outreach initiatives which in 2017, our first medical outreach was conducted in the rivers of Oieron, Ondo, and in 2018 we visited Awalla’s in Niger; Budon in Kogi
2019, and the mountainous regions of Tilba in Adamawa in 2020. In 2021, we assisted the Tsonga tribe in Kwara and the Kambari & Dukawa tribes in Niger State”.
According to her, during these medical outreach programs, our dedicated team, consisting of 5-6 skilled professionals including an optometrist and two pharmacists, diagnosed between 300-500 villagers. “We provided essential medications, carried out minor surgeries, and collaborated with local medical authorities to ensure comprehensive care”.
Continuing she said, “in our educational outreach programs, SCAI is equally committed to the educational development of communities, conducting standalone teaching outreach programs in several locations like Iseyin Village, Oyo State in August 2017; Auchi, Edo State, August 2018, Akaeze Village, Ebonyi State, August 2019, Arishi Village, Gida Hudu, Nassarawa, April/May 2021”.
“Through these initiatives, SCAI reaches out to community schools, offering quality teaching and teacher training for local educators. Our volunteer teaching outreach engages children aged 2 to 14, with each initiative impacting between 100 to 300 students”.
