Gov Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State.

Kaduna – The Director General of Media and Communication at the Government House, Gusau, Zamfara State, Nuhu Anka, has declared that Governor Dauda Lawal has rescued the state from economic collapse and restored fiscal stability.
In a statement made available to journalists, Anka said the people of Zamfara are fortunate to have Governor Lawal at the helm, noting that without his intervention, the state could have become ungovernable due to the economic damage inflicted by previous administrations.
“Within a few months in office, Governor Dauda Lawal has utilized his vast experience as an economist to revive the state’s battered economy,” Anka said.
He highlighted that the governor successfully cleared the backlog of three months’ salaries owed to civil servants and implemented the long-delayed N30,000 minimum wage, as well as the newly approved N70,000 national minimum wage.
“As I write this rejoinder, Zamfara State owes no one—locally or internationally—while government programs and policies are progressing smoothly. This contrasts sharply with previous administrations that constantly sought loans just to pay salaries,” he added.
Addressing claims that Governor Lawal had instructed banks not to extend loans to the past administration, Anka clarified: “The banks stopped giving loans because the state was bankrupt. No financial institution will lend money when it knows the borrower lacks the capacity to repay. So don’t blame Dauda Lawal.”
Anka also pointed to the visible developmental projects currently underway across both rural and urban areas, noting that Gusau, the state capital, is undergoing a transformation and now competes favorably with other major cities in Nigeria.
On allegations that the governor is neglecting the state’s security challenges, Anka described such claims as baseless.
“It is laughable because the current security situation in Zamfara is significantly better than before. Governor Lawal is doing far more than his predecessor in terms of addressing insecurity,” he stated.
He urged critics to desist from what he called blackmail and campaigns of calumny, emphasizing that no amount of opposition will derail Governor Lawal from delivering people-oriented projects.
“He has made a strong start and, by the grace of God, he will finish well in both his first and second terms in office. Dauda Lawal is on a rescue mission, and the people of Zamfara are already reaping the dividends of democracy,” Anka concluded.
