ABUJA – AN agricultural firm, DeBranch Farmers, weekend, went down to empower smallholder farmers in Kwassam community in Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State with knowledge and tools in order to boost productivity and food availability.

According to the Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer, CEO, DeBranch Farmers, Sandra Victor-Gwafan, the empowerment basically focused on sustainable farming practices, aimed at updating and keeping farmers abreast farmers with knowledge and tools to increase productivity while safeguarding the environment.

Victor-Gwafan maintained that her organization is out to work closely with smallholder farmers in order to ensure their productivity and regenerative ability transforms the method they are used to in food production.

She said: “At DeBranch Farmers, we believe that agriculture can be both productive and regenerative. This belief guided our session, which covered critical topics ranging from soil health and composting to climate-smart farming techniques and water conservation strategies.

“Our expert facilitators demonstrated how simple, locally adaptable innovations can make a big difference on the ground. What stood out most was the energy and enthusiasm of the farmers. Their eagerness to learn, ask questions, and share their own experiences reaffirmed our belief that true change starts at the grassroots. These farmers are not just cultivating crops—they are cultivating resilience, innovation, and hope.

“The event also fostered important discussions around the future of farming in the face of climate change. We emphasized agroecology as a pathway to resilience, one that respects natural ecosystems while meeting the food security needs of our communities.

“This is just the beginning. DeBranch Farmers is committed to walking alongside these hardworking men and women, offering continued support, training, and access to sustainable agricultural resources. Kwassam is one of many communities we aim to reach in our mission to transform rural agriculture through innovation and collaboration.”

However, she (Victor-Gwafan) called on partners and Nigerians to support their efforts to take food production to another level with organic farming practices and protect the environment from harmful agricultural practices.
