As part of activities to celebrate Eid-el-Fitr with the Muslim community, the Edo State Government through the Edo State Health Insurance Commission has empowered over 200 residents of Iyamo with free health insurance coverage, food items and other relief materials.
The event which took place at Central Mosque Iyamo on Saturday 29th of March was sponsored by the Executive governor of Edo State, His Excellency Senator Monday Okpebholo, Honourable Commissioner Ministry of Health, Dr Cyril Oshiomhole.

Speaking at the official distribution of food items to vulnerable residents, the Director General of the Edo State Health Insurance Commission, Mrs. Augusta Ikpea-Enaholo represented by Mr Conrad Aigbedion highlighted the government’s commitment to ensuring access to healthcare for rural dwellers, especially under the visionary leadership of His Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo’s administration.
Mrs. Ikpea-Enaholo emphasized that many rural communities experience inadequate healthcare services and to address this, beneficiaries were registered under the Edo Health Insurance Scheme, enabling them to access treatment for minor ailments with provision for referrals when the need arises.
She commended Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, for fulfilling his promise to the people by providing free healthcare services. She further assured that similar initiatives would be extended to other vulnerable communities across the state under her leadership in order to ensure that no one is left behind.
Expressing their gratitude, some beneficiaries, including Abubakar Adamu and Aishat Momoh, lauded the state government for the initiative and pledged to make good use of the support provided. They also called for more such interventions to ensure the continued delivery of democratic dividends to the people.
