SOKOTO; The Nigeria Muslim League Group (NIMUL) has commended the Minister of Defense for State, Hon. Bello Mohammed Matawalle, for his remarkable contribution of N500 million and essential food items as Ramadan palliatives to support the less fortunate.
In a statement issued to the press by the group’s leader, Prof. Mika’il Jibrin, the group expressed that this kind gesture provides much-needed relief to citizens during the sacred month of Ramadan. Prof. Jibrin emphasized that the initiative would greatly alleviate the struggles faced by the people in Zamfara State and neighboring regions of the Northwest.
NIMUL lauded Matawalle’s actions, noting that the distribution of foodstuffs and cash to vulnerable individuals across Zamfara, Sokoto, and Kebbi states has brought immense joy to the community, becoming a source of celebration for many.
The group revealed that the N500 million had been distributed across all 14 local government areas in Zamfara, targeting the alleviation of economic hardships during the Ramadan fasting period. Prof. Jibrin further highlighted that the group has begun inspecting the distribution process to ensure that the aid reaches its intended recipients through the “Ramadan Free Meals Initiative” in Zamfara and Sokoto states.
Describing the initiative as one of the most effective and transparent charitable efforts in recent times, Prof. Jibrin noted that it has successfully benefited countless individuals without political bias, reaching those who were in dire need.
“The distribution process has been marked by great respect, humility, and a commitment to ensuring that food and financial aid reach those who need it most, particularly in rural areas where people may not have the platform to publicly express their gratitude,” the statement read.
He also praised Minister Matawalle for ensuring that the assistance reached those who truly needed it, regardless of their political affiliations. Many beneficiaries, including orphans, vulnerable groups, and internally displaced persons (IDPs), have greatly benefited from the aid, which was extended not just within Zamfara, but also in neighboring states like Sokoto, Kebbi, and Kaduna.
NIMUL thanked the Minister for his generous support, as well as the efforts of other state governments in the region. The group also urged the beneficiaries to use this period of generosity to pray for national unity, peace, and success in the government’s efforts to combat insecurity in the region.
