The Nook International Fashion Weekend 2025, held recently in Port Harcourt, brought together local and international fashion designers to showcase their creativity, artistic vision, craftsmanship, and sophistication.
The two-day event also provided fashion models the opportunity to communicate with the vision of designers and brand owners, bringing their creations to life on the runway.
Some of the fashion brands that participated in the events were Fashion Mingle Aura, KDO Vogue Couture, TBM Collection, Kulams Couture, G.I.A Tribe, Watari Luxury, Oruku Label, Choice Design, Afia Achia Ghana, Michellegeena, MO Orafrik, Groomsmen Ghana, Kai Divo Collection Uganda, Teed Benin Republic.
The organisers of the event noted that being more than a fashion show, Nook plays a vital role in empowering young talents by encouraging skill development and fostering professional growth in the fashion industry.
Deborah Iwuchukwu, a fashion entrepreneur and founder of men’s fashion brand, Kulams Couture, stated that Nook is significant in driving visibility for emerging fashion brands, including her brand, which has benefited from the platform’s exposure.
“By bridging the gap between creativity and opportunity, Nook continues to shape the future of fashion while contributing to the growth of the industry,” Iwuchukwu said.
Ayebawanaemi Garaldine Wilson of Kulams Couture explained how Nook impacts the fashion industry. She stated that the event fosters visibility and brand growth, networking and collaboration, skill development and youth empowerment, economic growth and industry expansion, cultural representation, global influence, inspiration and trendsetting, and investment and funding opportunities.
“Nook sets trends that influence consumer behaviour, retail strategies, and seasonal collections. Designers gain insights into market preferences, helping them refine their craft and stay competitive,” she added.
Wilson further added that Kulams Couture pieces from the Velorian Edge and Echelon collections were showcased on the runway. According to her, the pieces included an exquisite blend of kaftans, ceremonial suits, and two-piece designs suitable for special occasions and everyday wear, making them a good choice for the modern, style-conscious individual.
“Each piece was a testament to creativity and sophistication, with intricate detailing that set them apart,” she said.
Iwuchukwu, Kulams Couture’s founder, noted that, just like Nook, her brand is shaping the style and fashion taste of society by redefining and elevating fashion consciousness within the community through innovation and commitment to luxury menswear.
She further noted that they achieve these feats by setting new standards for luxury menswear, promoting quality and craftsmanship, and encouraging individual expression.
Christian Obidi, a fashion model, described the Nook International Fashion Weekend as a dynamic platform that is more than a fashion show, that it is a celebration of innovation, culture, and craftsmanship.
Obidi said he loved the Kulams Couture’s designer clothes he wore on display during the event, adding, “The piece felt unique, well-crafted, and carried a distinct identity that sets it apart.”
Moses Orji, another fashion model at the event, said that the Nook event was not only spectacular but also an unforgettable experience that celebrated fashion at its finest.
Orji further said that he had the opportunity to wear a Kulams Couture outfit for the event, which he described as an epitome of elegance, adding, “Every piece tells a story of sophistication and creativity, making Kulams Couture a force in high fashion.”
