Having won the Hype Man of the Year award twice in a row in Eti-Osa, Tsunami of Hype’s name is already stamped in Lagos’ nightlife and event scene. But for him, this is just the beginning.

“Last year’s edition of Hypertension was special—we had Terry Apala, and the energy was unmatched, Two years ago was Magnito and it was magnificent. But this year? It’s going to be bigger and better. My popularity has grown, and I want to use that to push the hype industry forward,” he said.

Tsunami of Hype’s journey in entertainment started with dance—training under Kaffy, Nigeria’s most renowned choreographer. From there, he found his way into DJ-ing, building his understanding of crowd dynamics, beats, and the pulse of a great performance. But it was when he picked up the mic as a hype man that everything clicked.

“Hyping is more than just shouting on a beat. It’s about reading the crowd, controlling the energy, and making every single person in the room feel like they’re part of something special. I’ve put in years of work to perfect that craft,” he shared.

Hypertension, now in its third edition, is his way of showcasing what hype can truly be. With bigger artists, a larger audience, and a growing reputation, Tsunami of Hype sees this platform as a way to not only push his brand but to redefine the hype culture in Nigeria.

“This year’s edition isn’t just about turning up— it’s about showing how far we’ve come and where we’re headed,” he said.
