By Jimitota Onoyume
A group, Delta Ijaw Women for Peace and Culture (DIWPC), has expressed satisfaction with the effort of Dr. Dennis Otuaro, Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme and the leadership of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited to sustain the atmosphere of peace and economic revival in the Niger Delta region.
A statement by National Coordinator of the body , Comrade Mesahrun Ejiro Stella urged President Ahmed Bola Tinubu, the National Security Adviser, Malam Nuhu Ribadu and other well-meaning leaders of the Niger Delta to disregard campaigns by some mischief makers to discredit the tremendous successes of the amnesty boss and the leadership of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Ltd in peace building in the region.
The Niger Delta mothers further called on government, well-meaning stakeholders, community leaders, ex-agitators, and civil society organizations to unite in their support for Dr. Otuaro’s reforms against mischief makers and detractors, adding they reiterated need for collaborative efforts to address the underlying issues of unrest and violence in the Niger Delta. They further emphasize that only through solidarity and mutual understanding can lasting peace be achieved in the region.
They also demanded an end to smear campaigns in the media against Dr. Otuaro, Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo, alias Tompolo, leader of the defunct Movement for the Emancipation of Niger Delta (MEND), and Engr. Kestin Pondi, Managing Director of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, adding that there should rather be a seismic move towards fostering more supportive narratives that acknowledge the progress made by the administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, Dr. Otuaro, and the leadership of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited.
“True peace and development can only be realized through collective efforts and a commitment to constructive dialogue, not rhetoric and smear campaigns,” they noted
