Umo Eno nominates 27 for new cabinet, retains 9 former commissioners

Uyo — Thirty-three days after dissolving his foundation cabinet, Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has forwarded 27 names to the State House of Assembly for confirmation as commissioners and special advisers.

In a letter dated February 10, 2025, and addressed to the Speaker, Elder Udeme Otong, Governor Eno stated:

“In line with Section 192 (2) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended), I forward the listed nominees for appointment as Commissioners and Special Advisers for confirmation by the State House of Assembly.”

Nine immediate past commissioners made the list, including:

Prof. Eno Ibanga (Works and Fire Service)

Ini Ememobong (Information and Strategy)

Emem Bob (Economic Development)

Mrs. Offiong Offor (Agriculture)

Frank Archibong (Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs)

Linus Nkan (Finance)

Capt. Iniobong Ekong (Rtd) (Lands)

Uko Essien Udom, SAN (Justice)

Gen. Koko Essien (Rtd) (Internal Security and Waterways)

Gen. Essien was the only commissioner directly appointed by Governor Eno before the cabinet dissolution.

The fresh faces on the list include:

Hon. Iniobong Robson

Dr. Henry Archibong

Hon. Nsikak Ekong

Dr. Emmanuel John Ekem

Mrs. Inibehe Silas Etukudo

Rt. Hon. Aniekan Umana

Rt. Hon. Alice Ekpenyong

Dr. Frank Ekpeyong

Kufre Udosen

Hon. Ubuo Effiong Ubuo

Dr. Ubong Inyang

Princess Emem Ibanga

Dr. Anietie Udofia

Dr. Ekanem Ekerete

The governor urged lawmakers to expedite the confirmation process.

It is worth noting that Governor Eno’s initial cabinet was largely inherited from his predecessor, Udom Emmanuel.
