Stray bullet from cult clash kills trader in Bayelsa

Bayelsa community youths to elect new leaders

By Samuel Oyadongha & Emem Idio, Yenagoa

A stray bullet from a cult clash on Monday has reportedly killed a trader at the Swali Ultra Modern Market in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital.

The victim was identified as Mrs Christiana Onoakpoma Rose, an Isoko woman from Delta State.

Recall that in the last few weeks, a supremacy battle between rival groups has resulted in the death of over ten persons.

Some residents faulted the police for initiating peace for the cultist leaders instead of welding the big stick against them.

Confirming the incident, the state police command spokesman Musa Mohammed said some suspected cultists involved are being interrogated while investigations are ongoing.
