Damilola Sholademi, a distinguished member of the Nigerian National Archery Team, has secured first place in his compound bow division at the USA Archery Indoor National Championship for the Northeast region, held from February 21 to 23, 2025, in Fiskdale, Massachusetts.

Over the past year, Sholademi has demonstrated exceptional prowess, amassing over 14 medals across various archery events both within the United States and internationally, proudly representing Nigeria on each occasion. This would be his second consecutive first-place ranking at the Indoor Nationals in Fiskdale, Massachusetts.

Sholademi’s journey in archery began during the COVID-19 lockdown in 2020. Since then, he has rapidly ascended the ranks, becoming a prominent figure in the Nigerian archery community. His dedication and skill have not only earned him national titles but also international recognition. He was part of the team that clinched silver medals at the African Continental Archery Championships in 2022 in South Africa (Nigeria’s first ever continental archery medals) and Tunisia in 2023. 

As of today, Sholademi is ranked 7th in the compound bow category in Africa and holds the position of the most decorated archer in Nigeria across all bow categories. Sholademi is also currently ranked number 2 in the state of Massachusetts in the USA. He is currently signed on the Ramrods Developmental Team; the first Nigerian to be signed on with a renowned archery equipment manufacturer.

Over the past five years, Sholademi, along with his club, ARCH Archery Club Abuja, has been instrumental in promoting and developing archery in Nigeria. His achievements have inspired a new generation of archers and have brought significant attention to the sport within the country. Through his involvement with the ARCH Archery Club in Abuja and his participation in international competitions, he has showcased the potential of Nigerian athletes on the global stage.

Sholademi’s recent victory at the USA Archery Indoor National Championship underscores his commitment to excellence and serves as a testament to the growth of archery in Nigeria. His success story continues to motivate aspiring archers in Nigeria and highlights the importance of dedication, passion, and resilience in achieving sporting excellence.
