By Chioma Obinna

The mother of a 16-year-old diagnosed with end-stage renal disease, Mrs. Rhoda Nwachukwu, is urgently seeking financial assistance for her daughter’s surgery.

Ms. Colette Nwachukwu was diagnosed with advanced chronic kidney disease at the Gbagada General Hospital, Lagos.

Following several tests at General Hospital Gbagada in Lagos, the teenager who was admitted for running a fever was later diagnosed with advanced chronic kidney disease after confirming test results

According to the report, Colette has also been on twice-weekly dialysis, which costs as high as N150,000, as well as regular nephrology clinic follow-ups.

According to Colette’s mother, she has taken 19 sessions of dialysis at the hospital, running into millions, but at the moment, there is nowhere to get funds to continue her treatment, leaving her single mother stranded.

Nwachukwu who is desperate to save the life of her daughter stated that since her diagnosis, they have been living from hand to mouth.

She appealed to kindhearted Nigerians to come to her aid.

“My salary of N20,000 monthly can barely feed us, talk less of taking care of the bill. I am relying on God and people to come through for my daughter. The N22 million for the transplant is too much for my family.

“Colette’s dream is to become a medical doctor. I do not want her talent to be wasted.”
