The Aba Sports Club 1926 Golf Section is in frenzy mood for the inaugural Captain and Lady Captain’s Golf Tournament scheduled to  tee-off on March 29th, 2025 at the golf section, Aba.

At least not less than 180 amateur and invited professional golfers from across Nigeria are expected to feature  for the tournament.

The inaugural event packaged by the Local Organising Committee (LOC) under the Chairmanship of Chief Greg Esotu will feature Captains and Lady Captains from golf clubs in the South-South, specially invited and South-East States to participate in the event.

Online registration is ongoing as interested golfers are expected to pay registration fees of N20,000 into the Aba Sports Club Golf Tournament account and submit their registration details using the online registration link. The tournament officially tees-off at 6:30am till 10am while closing ceremony and presentation of prizes will start from 3pm.

Golfers in various categories such as men’s, ladies veterans and guests will also feature in the event while the first 20 female golfers will be given free accommodation for the duration of the tournament.

According to the organizers of the tournament, funds raised through this tournament will be used primarily to meet Exco budget for the year which runs in to several millions of Naira to meet up with the purchase/upgrade of equipment and course maintenance.

Recall that the golf section Captain, Mr. Collins Ekwueme and Lady Captain, Chief Mrs. Comfort Jerry Kalu assumed office in May 2024, to pilot the affairs till 2026.

The organizers also noted that within the few months in office, Golf Section Captain and the Lady Captain have made tremendous development and innovation in the golf section adding that the course fairways and greens have been greatly improved with full GPS coordinates activated.
