The invitation, Oboh said, was in celebration of the ceasefire Israel has agreed to with Hamas on the Gaza war.
Recall that Israel and Hamas have agreed to a deal for a ceasefire and release of hostages being held in Gaza, following separate meetings with Qatar’s prime minister.
The war had raged since October 7, 2023, when Hamas invaded southern Israel.
Reacting, Oboh said: “To be realistic, I am happy over the Isreali government’s agreement to make peace in Gaza.
“The deal has commenced. And by Sunday it will be in full force.
“The truth is, if the President of the United States of America, Mr. Joe Biden, had called out a ceasefire deal in July of last year, it would have saved over a thousand souls from death.
“Nevertheless, the peace talk backed up with actions must continue. If Mr. Biden doesn’t complete it, his successor, Mr. Donald Trump, should.
“I hope after the ceasefire deal, it will not be only the Isreali nation that would be compensated by the world powers.
“The Palestinians should be highly compensated, and aided to rebuild their devastated homes in Gaza.
“Also, they deserve the right to their own sovereign state,” Peter Oboh concluded.
