Nigerian gospel music minister Aduke Odeniyi is all set to release her latest single, “Mercy,” a heartfelt anthem for these challenging times.
With a mission to inspire and uplift through her music, Aduke blends elements of Afrobeat, soul, and folk to create her unique contemporary gospel sound.
Born and raised in Kano, Aduke Odeniyi is a wife, mother, and teacher of God’s word. She started her music journey as a choir member at First Baptist Church, Kano, where she ministered to a congregation of over 2,000 with her first hymn solo. Her upbringing in a Christian home and her personal encounter with Christ laid a solid foundation for her music ministry.
While secular music may appear more financially rewarding, Aduke is steadfast in her calling. She views gospel music as a spiritual mission, emphasizing its role in spreading hope, salvation, and God’s love.
The Challenges and Triumphs
Aduke acknowledges that the gospel music industry faces challenges, including limited resources and recognition. However, her dedication remains unwavering. “The greatest challenge is the state of the gospel music industry, which hasn’t reached its full potential,” she said. Despite these hurdles, her commitment to ministry and her passion for uplifting others keep her going.

Aduke has released several impactful tracks, including:

New Single: “Mercy”
Aduke’s latest single, “Mercy,” is a heartfelt plea for God’s intervention in a time of uncertainty and moral decline. Reflecting on the inspiration, she said, “We need God’s mercy now more than ever because of the challenges, uncertainties, and moral decay prevalent in the world.”
The song draws from the biblical message of Titus 3:5, emphasizing that salvation is a product of God’s mercy, not human righteousness.
Dreams and Legacy
Aduke dreams of spreading the gospel worldwide, creating music that heals hearts and strengthens faith. She aims to leave a lasting legacy of faith through timeless worship anthems while achieving artistic excellence that glorifies God.
The Difference Between Artist and Minister
When asked about the distinction between a gospel artist and a gospel minister, Aduke explained, “A gospel artist focuses on artistic output, while a gospel minister emphasizes spiritual service. Both roles, however, are vital in advancing the kingdom of God.”
A Life Transformed by God
Aduke’s life reflects her deep commitment to her faith. Before encountering God, she was disciplined and guided by Christian principles. After her encounter, she embraced her calling to work out her salvation and inspire others to do the same.
Inspiring the World Through Music
With a degree in Computer Science from the University of Ilorin and over 12 years of experience in telecommunications and banking, Aduke has now fully dedicated herself to her gospel ministry. Her passion for music and mentoring others drives her to share the gospel in word and song.
