Achievers varsity matriculates 1133 students, warns against social vices

The Vice Chancellor of Achievers University, Owo, Ondo State, Prof. Omolola Irinoye, has warned against drug abuse, cultism, examination malpractice and other social vices by students of the institution.

Prof lrinoye, gave the warning at the 18th matriculation ceremony of the university which took place over the weekend.

She admonished the newly 1,133 matriculated students of the institution to take their study seriously.

She stressed that the school has zero tolerance for cultism, drugs abuse, examination malpractice, unseriousness and other social vices.

The Vice Chancellor noted that any student found guilty of such act will be adequately dealt with and handed over to the proper authority.

According to her “The university has zero tolerance for examination malpractice, cultism, drugs abuse and any form of social misconduct. Students caught engaging in any of these vices run the risks of expulsion from the university.

“It is no news that Achievers University upholds the highest standards of academic integrity, discipline and ethical conduct.

“We expect you to demonstrate diligence in your studies, respect for university regulations and a commitment to personal and professional development.”

The Vice Chancellor also stressed on the importance of attending classes saying that lateness to classes or failure to attend classes attract grave punishment.

 “We take attendance at lectures very seriously and failure to meet 75% attendance is automatic carryover or repeat of the session as applicable.”.

The student’s disciplinary committee, according to her “is ever ready to prosecute and sanction any student who flout any of the school rules and regulations.

 In his address, the institutions Pro-Chancellor, Dr Bode, Ayorinde, cautioned the students against fighting, bullying and harassment.

Dr Ayorinde said that “we have zero tolerance to violence in any form including fighting, bullying, harassment, and. use of hard drugs.

” Any student caught in any of these vices faces the risk of expulsion from the university, and such student will be handed over to the police for prosecution.
