The Governor of Lagos state, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Sunday evening, officially flagged off the Tropical Christmas Wonderland at Eko Hotels and Suites.
In a powerful demonstration of Lagos’s commitment to cultural celebration and family entertainment, Governor Sanwo-Olu took center stage at the grand light-up ceremony, symbolically ushering in the holiday season.
Flanked by Prince Segun Aremo, Mrs Kay Ovia, Professor Duro Oni and HRH Erelu Kuti, the governor personally activated the spectacular light display, transforming the Eko Hotels grounds into a mesmerizing holiday landscape. His presence underscored the significance of the event, positioning it as more than just a corporate celebration, but a key moment in Lagos’s cultural calendar.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Christopher Chagoury, Chairman of Eko Hotels and Suites, welcomed the governor’s support, highlighting the event’s broader significance. “With the support of leaders like Governor Sanwo-Olu, we’re not just creating a Christmas event, but building a tradition that celebrates the best of African hospitality,” Chagoury noted.
He further stated that “the Tropical Christmas season at Eko Hotels and Suites has grown to become more than just an event; it is an experience that brings families, friends, and communities together.” He invited guests to join a magical journey from December 20th, 2024, to January 2nd, 2025, promising a wonderland with attractions catering to every age group.
Additionally, Mr Chagoury specially acknowledged Zenith Bank, the headline sponsor of the Tropical Christmas Wonderland, for their unwavering dedication to the growth of Nigeria’s hospitality and tourism industry. “Your partnership has been a cornerstone of this journey,” he said, emphasizing the collaborative spirit that makes such grand celebrations possible. “Your belief in our vision to deliver an unparalleled experience is deeply appreciated. Together, we have created a tradition that celebrates the festive season and tells the story of Africa—a story of innovation, creativity, and an enduring commitment to excellence.”
A special highlight of the evening was the breath-taking performance by the Evolution Choir. Their powerful rendition of Christmas carols created a magical ambiance that perfectly captured the season’s spirit.
