Group set to hold 2024 awareness campaign against GBV

An Abuja-based Non-Governmental Organization ,Wonderful Woman for Sustainable Foundation has concluded  arrangements to hold its 2024 Awareness Campaign Against gender-based violence (GBV).

In a statement signed by the Vice President of the women rights advocacy organization, Anne Dirkling , the event supported by French Embassy in Nigeria was scheduled to hold on 10 December 2024 at the Baptist Theological Seminary, Kawo, Kaduna.

She said the event would promote and encourage community action to eliminate Gender-based violence in Kaduna State and beyond.

Dirkling added that the event was part of Global 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-based Violence Campaign which had been domesticated in Nigeria and other nations.

Highlighting on activities the organization had engaged in since its establishment in 2018, Dirking, mentioned advocacy for gender equality, menstrual hygiene, justice for rape and molestation victims among others.

The NGO, basically with a core objective to empower women and chart a general approach to a holistic humane culture that transcends tribe, race and sexual orientation and the divisive line in the Nigerian society.

“Youth, women, orphans and vulnerable members of the society have been our priorities and have always strived to ensure they are self-reliant and gainfully engaged in one skill or vocation.

“We shall in collaboration with our partners play positive roles in the society with the aim of creating awareness towards a just and peaceful society where rights of every individual are protected.

“Our mission has always been striving to fight against societal ills, antisocial behaviours and to stand for the vulnerable members of our society and empowering our women and youth so they could be responsible individuals.

“This year’s awareness campaign against gender-based violence will be comprehensive to ensure the message sink in and reach the targeted audience, “she added.
