YENAGOA – ACCORD Party in Bayelsa State has dissolved the tenure of Mr Victor Fisi-led executives of the party and appointed an acting state chairman following the expiration of their tenure.
The dissolution of the excos was carried out during the State Executive Congress, SEC, held at the state party secretariat in Yenagoa on Thursday, presided over by the outgone Chairman Mr Fisi and attended by local government and wards chairmen of the party and other party organs.
Following the dissolution of the exco, the Yenagoa Local Government Area Chairman of the party, Mr Alaowei Wantei moved the motion to nominate Mr. Kentebebode Kenneth Akuna as the Acting State Chairman, while the Youth Leader, Mr Wigikuro Macarthy seconded the motion, and he was unanimously voted as the Acting State Chairman of party.
Speaking after his emergence as the State Acting Chairman, Mr Akuna, who is the outgone State Secretary of the party, commended the various party organs for finding him worthy and promised to reposition the party pending the conduct of elections by the party national secretariat.
Also speaking, a chieftain of the party and Deputy Governorship Candidate in the 2019 Governorship Election, Mr. Macaustine Dangosu, said the party has been in comatose and needed a new lease of life, noting that the stakeholders of the party had no option than to put the outgone Chairman aside and installed a new leadership.
He said: “There was lapses with the last exco, the chairman has been somehow not reachable and some members felt that this was not the right way to go, he was killing the party. Today majority of the party leaders had to do the needful.
“So We are all happy with the new development , we are hopeful that the desired unity will be achieved. The national leadership also sanctioned the dissolution and at the appropriate time they will give us notice for a proper state convention.”
